On Saturday February 3rd, 2007 Chloe Keith was put to rest.
Chloe has been a member of our family for 4 years when we met her at the Animal Control facility in Indianapolis. She has been treated at the Bloomington Veterinarian Hospital for the last 9 days for kidney failure. Her prognosis at first seemed hopeful, but as of the 2nd, it became clear that she would not recover.
After spending a few hours with Chloe on Saturday, it was very apparent that Chloe was much worse. She could barely stand, she was extremely lathargic, and her general apperance was very sad. Colin and I stayed with Chloe to the end, and know that she is now much more peaceful. She was truly the best dog anyone could hope for, and she has such a place in our heart as well as all who met her.
At this time of hardship, I wish that I was able to have the mature attitude that our 3 year old has. She has stated to both Colin and I that we should, "not be sad... We can get a new dog, and name her Chloe." As we explained to her that you don't name new dogs the same as past animals, we both realized that as much as we were trying to shelter her, this has been much more difficult for the "adults".
In loving memory, we hope that Chloe is in a better place.
